Authorities believe Lowe walked into some thick brush in an attempt to conceal his location as he was actively sought by police, according to a press release from American Fork Police Department.

American Fork is located about 30 miles from Salt Lake City.

The press release mentions that officers from agencies including American Fork Police and Lehi Police have spent a substantial amount of time searching the park and in the area attempting to locate Lowe. K-9 units have been used on multiple occasions in an attempt to locate him or evidence, the press release states.

The cause of Lowe’s death is not immediately clear.

Police said in a statement on December 24, 2016 that 39-year-old Tina Marie Lowe was working as a convenient store clerk when she was shot by a man police believe to be her estranged husband.

Tina was found by a customer and transported to Intermountain Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds.

Tina has undergone numerous surgeries since the shooting, but remains in critical condition.
