Medical director where Joan Rivers had procedure no longer at clinic

Dr. Lawrence Cohen, the medical director where Joan Rivers underwent her procedure, is no longer working at the New York clinic.

"Dr. Cohen is not currently performing procedures at Yorkville Endoscopy; nor is he currently serving as medical director," a Yorkville Endoscopy spokesperson told CBS News.

The comedian went into cardiac arrest while undergoing what was supposed to be a routine diagnostic throat procedure on Aug. 28. She was rushed to the hospital where she was put into a medically induced coma. The clinic is now under investigation by New York state's health department. Tests to determine the cause of death were inconclusive.

Sources told TMZ that Dr. Cohen was asked to leave -- though he's not directly being blamed for the death.

Rivers died Sept. 4 at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York at age 81. Here life and career were remembered at a star-studded funeral in Manhattan attended by family and many celebrity friends, including Hugh Jackman, Sarah Jessica Parker and Whoopi Goldberg.
