Kim Dickens to star in "Walking Dead" companion series

Kim Dickens, who played suspicious detective Rhonda Boney in "Gone Girl," has landed the female lead role on AMC's planned "The Walking Dead" spin-off.

According to Deadline, Dickens will star opposite Cliff Curtis in the companion series, which is set in the same zombie-infested universe as its predecessor but focuses on a different location and cast of characters.

The actress will reportedly play a guidance counselor in a relationship with Curtis' character, who is a teacher. She has two children from a previous marriage (to be played by Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam), and is described as looking "like the girl next door" but also having a "troubled past that will come back to haunt her."

In addition to her breakout role this year in David Fincher's "Gone Girl," Dickens has also appeared on "Lost," "Friday Night Lights," "Treme" and "Sons of Anarchy."
