Tilda Swinton reveals why she dislikes "Harry Potter"

Tilda Swinton is not a fan of “Harry Potter” -- for a very specific reason.

As it turns out, the “Doctor Strange” star doesn’t have anything against witchcraft or wizardry. She just doesn’t like works of fiction glorifying the boarding school experience.

Swinton explained to Scots magazine that during her teen years she was a student at the West Heath boarding school in London, an experience she described as “hell” and “very lonely and isolating.”

“That’s why I dislike films like Harry Potter, which tend to romanticize such places,” she said.

“I think they are a very cruel setting in which to grow up, and I don’t feel children benefit from that type of education,” she added. “Children need their parents and the love parents can provide.”

Swinton, herself a mother of two, founded an “art-based, practical learning” school in 2013, Drumduan Upper School.
