Tiffani Thiessen: "White Collar" finale has "a lot of heart"
Tiffani Thiessen is about to hang up her event planning hat.
The actress stars as Elizabeth Burke, an event planner and Peter's (Tim DeKay) wife, on the USA Network series "White Collar." Thiessen, DeKay along with co-stars Matt Bomer and Willie Garson shot the show's final episode -- and it's scheduled to air Thursday.
Thiessen says she feels bittersweet about the show going off the air.
"Six years, and six seasons on that show -- very sad but I guess like all good things, they have to come to an end," she told CBS News. "I can promise the fans that the last episode it's pretty -- it's got a lot of heart and I think people are going to be very pleased with it."
She wouldn't reveal much more about the series finale, but by the looks of last week's episode things are getting pretty tense. And if Thiessen is right, viewers can count on a satisfying conclusion.
With the show wrapping, Thiessen, 40, has a little more time on her hands to spend with her husband, Brady Smith, and their daughter, Harper.
Thiessen says she's looking forward to the holidays and having some extra time with the family. She intends to tackle her other loves: cooking and baking.
"That's definitely a tradition I used to do with my mom and I'm definitely doing that with my daughter -- spending time of course, going to get your picture with Santa Claus," said Thiessen. "That kind of thing. I always love to find new things -- now that I have a kid, she's four and a half -- finding new adventure to do during her holiday break. So like ice skating, and going to see her first 'Nutcracker' this year, which I'm super super-excited to go take her."
She plans to box up some of those holiday cookies to send to friends and family. "I love to send out homemade gifts and what better way to do that than food, right?" she said.
Thiessen recently partnered with the United States Postal Service in time for the busy holiday season and says she'll use USPS as a way to deliver the gifts.
"My kid actually loves to color the boxes and make them fun and personal," said Thiessen.
Speaking of kids, it's been more than two decades since we watched Thiessen grow up on the hit NBC TV series "Saved by the Bell," which ran from 1989-1993. Thiessen, who played the popular student Kelly Kapowski, says she has such fond memories of the show, which co-starred Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Dustin Diamond.
"It made it a little easier growing up with other kids in the business. We were a very tight-knit...working family. We had a lot of firsts together...traveling around the world. We got to know each other very well. It's like having brothers and sisters...I still talk to half the cast -- closely -- still a lot," she revealed.
