Prince "Nothing Compares 2 U" radio simulcast set for Wednesday

In case you haven't been counting, it's been -- nearly -- seven hours and 13 days since Prince went away, which means a very specific tribute is in order.

As Prince's hit "Nothing Compares 2 U" begins, "It's been seven hours and 13 days since you took your love away," and Wednesday evening will mark that same amount of time since the singer's sudden passing on April 21.

To honor the music legend, several radio stations across the country will simultaneously broadcast the song, which was also a career-defining hit for Sinead O'Connor -- though she changed the opening lyric to "15 days."

Minneapolis radio station 89.3 The Current will play "Nothing Compares 2 U" at 5:07 p.m. CT, and the station has invited other stations to join in. New York's WFUV, Seattle's KEXP and Philadelphia's WXPN are among the stations that have already signed on, according to Billboard.

"I think the shocking suddenness to Prince's passing and at such a young age have combined to throw the entire world for a loop," program director Jim McGuinn said. "We just wanted to honor the man we called our friend, and the music we all love, and thought that maybe we might be able to get radio stations all over the world to share this moment with fans who are missing this great artist."
