Beyonce's dad Matthew Knowles talks about "Lemonade"

Beyonce's father, Matthew Knowles, is speaking out on "Lemonade" and his relationship with his superstar daughter.

Earlier this week, Knowles responded to speculation that Beyonce was talking about him when she recites, "Did he convince you that he was god? Are you a slave to the back of his hand?"

"I can say I have never in my life hit my daughter," Knowles responded on Sirius XM show "Make it a Plan." "So, she has never been a slave to the back of my hand because I didn't believe in that."

Knowles, who is rumored to be estranged from his daughter, also revealed on Wednesday to WatchLoud that he didn't get a heads up about "Lemonade."

"I was like everyone else, you know, I went in and made my popcorn and watched the HBO special," he said.

Knowles also talked about his relationship with Beyonce and said viewers of the HBO documentary could see for themselves.

"They saw me talking to Beyonce when she was a young child and challenging her, even then, to understand where she was coming from and critical thinking, but you also seen me diving on the bed and playing with Blue Ivy so that kinda answers your question right there," he said. The former Destiny's Child manager said he can't be certain that "Daddy Lessons" is about him.

"My kids, they take a lot from me and I always come from an intellectual place," he said. "When I listen to 'Daddy Lessons' - and Beyoncé wrote me a song on her first album called "Daddy" [as well] - but when I hear this song ['Daddy's Lessons'] I'm sure that some of that, hopefully, I inspired her. But am I sure, no."'
