First responders save DMX after he collapses in parking lot

First responders saved DMX's life after he collapsed in a Yonkers, New York, parking lot on Monday evening.

Yonkers Detective Lt. Patrick McCormack did not reveal the victim's identity, but he did tell CBS New York that first responders found a man with "no pulse and not breathing" in the parking lot of the Ramada Inn on Tuckahoe Road. The rapper's lawyer confirmed that the victim was indeed DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons.

McCormack added that DMX allegedly took a substance that made ambulance workers give the rapper Narcan, a drug that stops opioid overdoses.

"He subsequently became a little bit more elevated and in a semiconscious state," McCormack said.

An attorney for DMX said the rapper has recovered, the Associated Press is reporting. Murray Richman said Tuesday that the 45-year-old artist is out of the hospital.

The rapper is not facing any charges related to the incident, reports CBS New York.

Last year, the rapper was sentenced to six months in jail after he failed to pay child support.
