Kelly Rowland is kicking off spring with both a new look and new music.

The Destiny's Child star has been hard at work on her fifth studio album, the follow-up to 2013's "Talk a Good Game."

Rowland said she's coming off a high from last year's release (an album she loved) and is getting inspiration from all of the positive energy around her. She's working with new producers and new songwriters for the set, due out this summer.

Fans, meanwhile, don't have to wait until summer to hear some new music from Rowland. She appears on Joe's single "Love & Sex Part 2," and although no other collaborations are in the works at the moment, the 33-year-old singer said she's always up for a good collaboration.

But will that include a re-teaming with Destiny's Child? "We haven't talked about it," she told CBS News. "We've just been supporting each other in our solo careers and enjoying each other as sisters."

Also new for Rowland is her bob haircut. She recently chopped off her long locks and says she's loving her latest chic 'do.

"I'm changing up my style for spring," said Rowland who's the new "Fabulista" behind Caress' Fresh Body Wash collection. She helped launch the brand's new scents, including Juicy Escape and Emerald Rush, as part of a campaign to inspire women to enjoy everyday experiences in a fresh new way.

As for her own beauty advice, Rowland, who's a staple on red carpets and at fashion shows, said, "Do something different." And that could be as easy as trying a new lipstick color, she said.

"I love color. I'm loving yellow. I'm loving blue. It brightens my days," Rowland added.

Rowland has also tried her hand at reality television, serving as a judge on Simon Cowell's "The X Factor." Although the series won't be returning in the U.S., Rowland said she's open to another reality TV opportunity.

"We'll see what happens," she said. "I truly enjoyed myself on 'The X Factor.' I'm so happy for Simon and his new baby. He's a daddy now. I'm so happy for Demi [Lovato]. I spoke to her the day before yesterday -- she's on tour." Rowland says she also bumps into singer Paulina Rubio because they both live in Miami. "She's an incredible mother," said Rowland.
