​Kelly Clarkson: I never expected to get married

Singer Kelly Clarkson, whose hits include "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)," "Since U Been Gone" and "Never Again," admits she never expected to get married.

Growing up, her views on marriage were skewed by the divorces she saw around her, she told Tracy Smith, in an interview to be broadcast on CBS' "Sunday Morning" March 1.

"I never thought, honestly, I would get married or fall in love, like they say in the movies," Clarkson says. "I never thought that would happen . . . because I didn't think it was true."

Clarkson adds that it wasn't something she was "presented" with growing up. "I just didn't know if it was possible."

Clarkson, the first winner of the TV competition, "American Idol," has sold more than 20 million albums.

On "Sunday Morning" she also talks about Brandon Blackstock, the first man to whom Clarkson said "I love you" and meant it, she reveals to Smith. "Yeah, yeah, that's the first time that happened. That's horrible. But it's true."

Clarkson and Blackstock, a talent manager, married in 2013, making her part of a musical dynasty. Her father-in-law, Narvel Blackstock (also a talent manager), is married to country star Reba McEntire.

Clarkson also talks to Smith about her career, her family, her childhood, and the inspiration for her music. [Her latest album, "Piece By Piece," is the first music she's recorded as a mother.]
