Jake Gyllenhaal looks for work in first "Nightcrawler" promo

Jake Gyllenhaal is hoping to find a new gig in the first promo clip for his upcoming drama, "Nightcrawler."

As part of a viral marketing campaign for the film, an actual ad was placed on Craigslist written in the voice of Gyllenhaal's character, Lou Bloom.

"I'm looking for full-time employment. No job too big or too small. I have my own car and phone," the ad states. Bloom is described as being "persistent" and someone who can "work nights."

The ad includes a link to a "video resume" for Bloom, where a slimmed-down Gyllenhaal can be seen in various spots around Los Angeles.

Gyllenhaal lost more than 20 pounds for the role and had to get stitches at a hospital after cutting his hand during shooting.

The "Prisoners" star also served as executive producer on the film, which comes from "The Bourne Legacy" screenwriter Dan Gilroy in his directorial debut. Bill Paxton and Rene Russo co-star.

"Nightcrawler" opens in theaters on Oct. 17.
