Stephen Colbert breaks down presidential debate

That’s some quick analysis.

Stephen Colbert broadcast his “Late Show” live Monday night to have as fresh a reaction to the first presidential debate as possible -- and it was worth the extra effort.

“Live means that in the excitement of the moment, if I make a mistake, it can never be taken back,” Colbert warned the audience. “I would like you to keep that in mind when you go vote this next November. Can never be taken back.”

Colbert had plenty to say about the first showdown between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, pointing out that the former secretary of state was the first to tell a lie when she said, “Donald, it’s good to be with you.”

“False!” Colbert declared. “Where are the fact-checkers?”

While Colbert took time to cover most of the major topics covered in the debate, he did think that Trump hit on the major theme of the night. “In the end, there was only one word that summed up how this debate, this whole election feels, and Donald Trump captured it,” Colbert concluded. “‘Wrong.’”
