Michael Buble explains #hungryshorts Instagram

Michael Buble has struck a chord with the Internet community after posting a photo featuring himself in the foreground and a woman's butt behind him.

The 39-year-old Canadian crooner, married to Argentine actress/model Luisana Lopilato and internationally known for hits like "Just Haven't Met You Yet," is apologizing for the photo he Instagrammed Monday.

The picture was captioned: "There was something about this photo lu took, that seemed worthy of instagram," with the hashtags #myhumps #babygotback #hungryshorts #onlyinmiami and #beautifulbum.

The post caused shock and disappointment among many of Buble's one million Instagram followers. Some accused the singer of body shaming, while others condemned the photo for apparently being taken without the subject's permission.

"I do not court controversy, but I realize that a photo that was meant to be complimentary and lighthearted has turned into a questionable issue," Buble told Us Weekly. "It hurts me deeply that anyone would think that I would disrespect women or be insulting to any human being...I regret that there are people out there who found the photo offensive. That was not and is not my intention. Women are to be celebrated, loved, respected, honored and revered. I've spent my life believing that and will continue to do so."

Some of Buble's other followers are defending the singer and taking the post less seriously.

"I'm on team Michael and Lu on this one! How is this body/booty shaming? People need to relax!" one user said.

"People need to get over themselves. .. this women apparently didnt have a problem going out in public with those shorts... get over it!" wrote another.
