Matt Damon, Paul Greengrass reportedly in talks for another Jason Bourne sequel

It seems we haven't seen the last of Jason Bourne.

Universal Pictures is in talks with Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass for an upcoming fifth installment in the film series, according to Deadline.

Damon and Greengrass had previously teamed up for 2004's "The Bourne Supremacy" and 2007's "The Bourne Ultimatum," which were both well-received by critics and audiences. They also worked together on 2010's "Green Zone."

The 43-year-old "Monuments Men" actor also starred in the first film in the "Bourne" series, 2002's "The Bourne Identity," directed by "Edge of Tomorrow" filmmaker Doug Liman.

Damon was absent, however, from the most recent installment, 2012's "The Bourne Legacy," which centered on a new character named Aaron Cross, played by Jeremy Renner. Greengrass also sat out on "The Bourne Legacy," which was instead directed by Tony Gilroy, who has written the screenplays for all of the "Bourne" films.

No word yet if Gilroy will return to pen the new script.

In addition to the Damon/Greengrass project (expected for release on July 16, 2016), Renner has signed on to reprise his role as Cross in a separate "Bourne" spinoff sequel, set to be directed by "Fast & Furious 6" filmmaker Justin Lin.

The "Bourne" films are loosely based on Robert Ludlum's series of best-selling novels, which centered on the renegade ex-CIA agent Jason Bourne as he tries to regain his memory.
