"Meet The Parents" actress Teri Polo files for bankruptcy

Like the rest of the public, Hollywood stars can sometimes find themselves in financial hot water.

Actress Teri Polo filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on April 14, according to legal documents obtained by E! News.

The documents state that Polo has accrued debts to the IRS, credit card companies and lawyers totaling roughly $1 million.

The 44-year-old TV and film star is best known for her turn in the three "Meet The Parents" films. She played Pamela Focker nee Byrnes, the fiancee and later wife of Gaylord Focker (Ben Stiller) and daughter of Jack Byrnes, memorably played by Robert De Niro.

Polo is currently starring on the ABC Family series "The Fosters," executive produced by Jennifer Lopez.

The Delaware native has an 11-year-old son, Griffin, with ex-husband Anthony Moore.
