Jennifer Lawrence to portray Zelda Fitzgerald in new film

Jennifer Lawrence has another biopic up her sleeve, and this one goes back to the Jazz Age.

The “Hunger Games” and “Silver Linings Playbook” star has signed on to portray Zelda Fitzgerald, the eccentric and troubled wife of literary giant F. Scott Fitzgerald, in a new film that Ron Howard is considering directing, according to the Hollywood Reporter

The screenplay was written by “The White Queen” writer Emma Frost, adapted from the biography “Zelda,” by Nancy Milford, chronicling Zelda’s life and career married to a famous novelist and “desperate to define herself through her own art.”

Lawrence, who stars in December’s sci-fi release “Passengers,” opposite Chris Pratt, was last seen in another biopic, portraying Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano, for which she earned an Oscar nomination.

Howard’s latest film, “Inferno,” opens Friday.
