Performances of "Stomp" canceled after building collapse

Five performances of the propulsive show "Stomp" have been canceled following an apparent gas explosion in Manhattan's East Village.

Producers said Friday that five shows scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday have been scrapped. Ticketholders are advised to return or exchange tickets at the point of purchase.

The show's home at The Orpheum Theatre at 126 Second Avenue is only a few doors away from the site where a blast Thursday caused the collapse of three five-story buildings and damage to a fourth, leaving 19 people injured. Two people are unaccounted for.

"Stomp," a celebration of percussion, rhythm and noise that includes performers banging garbage cans and brooms, opened at the theater in 1994.
