Johnathan Rhys Meyers apologizes for "minor relapse": "I stopped drinking immediately"

Actor Jonathan Ryhs Meyers took to Instagram to apologize for having an alcohol relapse after photos showing him drinking while walking through London surfaced Tuesday.

"The Tudors" star, 37, who was absent at the debut of his new spy thriller "Damascus Cover" at the Cannes Film Festival, was instead photographed looking disheveled while holding what appeared to be a bottle of vodka.

Meyers has been in and out of rehab since 2005 in his battle with substance abuse that has landed him in police custody numerous times following airport fisticuffs and other incidents of public intoxication.

Meyers admitted that he had a "minor relapse" and assured that he has gotten right back on the wagon in a statement posted to his fiancee Mara Lane's Instagram account:

"Mara and I are thankful for your support and kindness during this time. I apologize for having a minor relapse and hope that people don't think too badly of me," he said. "I stopped drinking immediately and it is no reflection on Damascus Cover as I was not meant to attend Cannes this year and I apologize to fans and colleagues. I am on the mend and thank well wishers and sorry for my disheveled appearance... [I] feel quite embarrassed but this was just a blip in my recovery otherwise I'm living a healthy life. Love and blessings."
