Universal picks up Aaron Sorkin's Steve Jobs film

Less than one week after Sony announced they were dropping Aaron Sorkin's Steve Jobs film, the project has been officially saved by Universal.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a deal has been struck to produce the film about the Apple co-founder with Danny Boyle still on board to direct. It was purportedly shopped with a price tag of more than $30 million.

Michael Fassbender is attached to star in the film, being produced by Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady.

Producers are still in the midst of casting and have reportedly reached out to Scarlett Johansson and set Seth Rogen for the part of Steve Wozniak.

"It's a cool team," Rogen told IGN before Universal secured the project. "There's a lot that needs to happen between now and then -- they haven't closed the deal with the studio which means they haven't closed the deals with any of the actors or any of that stuff. But if that movie gets made, I think there's a good chance that I will be in it."

The film is based on Walter Isaacson's "Steve Jobs" biography from 2011.
