Watch the dramatic "Downton Abbey" season 6 teaser

As "Downton Abbey" heads into its sixth and final season, we're getting a bigger glimpse of what to expect from the hit British drama.

It stars airing in the U.K. next month, but American fans will have to wait until early 2016.

The dramatic teaser is filled dancing, lots of hugs and both smiles and tears.

Near the start of the trailer, Robert Crawley (Hugh Bonneville) tells Mr. Carson (Jim Carter), "If I could stop history in its tracks, maybe I would. But I can't, Carson, for neither you nor I can hold back time."

And Anna Bates (Joanne Froggatt) is heard Lady Mary Crawley (Michelle Dockery), "And we also hear we've had our moments, haven't we my lady."

"Our feeling is that it's good to quit while you're ahead," executive producer Gareth Neame said earlier this year about winding down the series. "We feel the show is in incredibly strong shape, the scripts that we're working on for the upcoming season are fantastic and the show is so popular globally. But the danger with this sort of thing is to let it go on forever."

"Downton Abbey" returns to PBS on Jan. 3, 2016.
