Miguel sued two years after kicking woman during Billboard Music Awards

Sometimes it takes a while for the long arm of civil litigation to catch up to you. This is the lesson Miguel is learning now that he's being sued by a woman two years after he accidentally landed on her during a failed stage leap.

The incident in question went down after the R&B singer's performance at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards. Miguel jumped off the stage but fell short and ended up landing on a few members of the audience.

Cindy Tsai, whose head allegedly cushioned the singer's fall, is suing Miguel as well as the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas where the awards show was held, according to documents obtained by ET.

Tsai is suing for negligence and is seeking damages to cover medical fees and lost wages due to recovery from the incident, as well as pain and suffering, which she claims to have endured in the wake of the stage jump.

Back in 2013, another woman, Khyati Shah, allegedly suffered injuries due to the failed stunt and reportedly considered suing Miguel, however no lawsuit was ever filed.

Immediately after the 2013 incident, Miguel spoke with Billboard, alongside his "new friend" Shah.

"We just met," Miguel joked. "Unfortunately we did not meet under the best circumstances, but I think we're okay."

ET has reached out to Miguel's reps for comment on the newly filed lawsuit.
