George Clooney, Amal Alamuddin celebrate wedding No. 2

Hollywood's most eligible bachelor is off the market

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin had a second opportunity to say ''I do" when they celebrated a civil ceremony in a historic palace along Venice's Grand Canal.

The couple tied the knot two days earlier in a private ceremony attended by Hollywood celebrity friends and family. On Monday, they followed up with a required civil procedure before Italian authorities.

The newlyweds arrived by water taxi. Clooney looked dapper in gray suit and matching tie, while the bride wore a cream-colored, short-sleeved jacket with palazzo pants and a matching wide-brimmed hat. They turned to wave at hundreds of people waiting hours for their arrival.

Clooney ushered his wife inside. They emerged 20 minutes later with former Rome Mayor Walter Veltroni, who performed both ceremonies.

The 53-year-old actor, who had vowed he'd never wed again, and the 36-year-old London-based lawyer, were married with Hollywood stars and family among guests. Us Weekly reports that his bride donned a gown designed by Oscar de la Renta.

There was one small water-bourne glitch, however, on the wedding day. There was Clooney, all dressed up and on his way to get married, traveling down the world's most elegant aisle -- as it were. And there was a massive, ugly cruise ship blocking the way; allowing cruise ships into the lagoon is a great controversy in Venice.

On Sunday, Clooney and Alamuddin were photographed in Venice following their big day.

The marriage is the first for the bride and the second for Clooney, who had been one of the world's most sought-after bachelors since 1993, following a four-year marriage to actress Talia Balsam. Through the years he's been attached to Stacy Keibler, Elisabetta Canalis and others.
