Sunday: Flake, Feinstein and Salvanto

After a whirlwind night in the Capitol, Senate Republicans, again, failed to pass legislation repealing measures of Obamacare, continuing a summer of defeats for Republican leadership.  In a surprise early Friday morning, Sen. John McCain (R – Arizona) became the deciding vote against such a measure despite heavy lobbying from the President, Vice President and his fellow Republicans.

On the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue, war has broken out in the West Wing between White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and the new White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci, exposing the chaos and infighting of the Trump White House. 

Sunday on "Face the Nation" we're joined by Sen. Jeff Flake (R – Arizona), author of the new book, "Conscience of a Conservative," which New York Times opinion writer David Brooks calls "a thoughtful defense of traditional conservatism and a thorough assault on the way Donald Trump is betraying it." In his first television appearance to discuss the book and his beliefs, Flake calls on Republicans to return to their conservative principles and criticizes the party for embracing some of the morals of the Trump presidency. How does the Arizona senator plan to bring his party back in line?

While the investigations into Russian involvement in the 2016 election continue to take drastic turns weekly, we'll speak to the top Democrat in the Senate Judiciary Committee, one of three congressional committees running an investigation, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D – California).  Feinstein is asking for Committee Republicans to call Attorney General Jeff Sessions to testify about his conversations with the former Russian Ambassador to the U.S., Sergey Kislyak.

CBS News Elections and Surveys Director Anthony Salvanto joins Sunday to discuss his latest findings from our CBS News Nation Tracker, a joint survey project with YouGov aimed at monitoring Americans' views on the Trump administration, congress and the country. In the midst of West- Wing turmoil and repeated failed attempts at healthcare reform, how do Americans feel about the current administration?
