Sunday: Brennan and Kasich

Washington is a little quieter this week with Congress out of town for the President’s Day recess, but that hasn’t eased the tension between President Trump and the intelligence community.  By 7:31am Friday, the President once again began his day tweeting about leaks from the national security community.

This Sunday we’ll speak with former CIA Director John Brennan in his first television interview since the start of the Trump administration.  How might the strained relationship between President Trump and the intelligence community endanger our national security?  We’ll also get Brennan’s thoughts on the assassination of North Korean Leader Kim Jung-un’s half-brother, Kim Jong-nam, in Malaysia as the story takes a spy novel-twist with reports that a toxic nerve agent was employed in the murder.

Friday the president met with former GOP rival and Ohio governor John Kasich at the White House. The two spoke on issues ranging from Obamacare to American foreign policy. We’ll talk to Gov. Kasich on Sunday about his meeting with the president and possibilities of the two working together in the future.

Many Republican members of congress were met with angry protesters at town hall events held in their home districts throughout the country. We’ll have a report on Congress’ not-so relaxing winter recess—and we’ll hear direct from a group of Americans we assembled in Richmond, Virginia.   As part of our continuing efforts to read the tea leaves outside Washington, Face the Nation host John Dickerson spoke with citizens all across the political spectrum.  How do people feel about Mr. Trump’s first month in office? What do they think Democrats should do?  And what is the root of their frustration with Washington?  We found some surprising answers to those questions.

In one of his first executive actions, the president ordered the Pentagon to develop a new strategy to defeat ISIS within 30 days. CBS News National Security Correspondent David Martin has spent the past week traveling with the head of the U.S. Central Command throughout the Mideast assessing the fight against the ISIS as the military weighs options to present to President Trump.  What changes will be made to the fight against ISIS and is there a timetable for their defeat?

And for political analysis we’ll hear from our panel: Lanhee Chen, a fellow at the Hoover Institute, publisher of The Federalist, Ben Domenech, Ezra Klein, who is  Editor-in-Chief of Vox and Molly Ball of The Atlantic.
