Police: Phoenix woman uses car to run over man fighting with her boyfriend

PHOENIX - A woman suspected of intoxication ran over a man arguing with her boyfriend in the parking lot of a Phoenix convenience store late Thursday night, police told CBS station KPHO in Phoenix.

The attacker, identified as Robert Krumlauf, 48, was rushed to a local trauma center and was pronounced dead.

The woman’s boyfriend was being treated in an intensive care unit. He is expected to survive.

The woman, Jenna Keller, 29, was arrested, processed for DUI, and booked on charges of second-degree murder and aggravated assault, Phoenix Police Sgt. Vince Lewis said.

Police had earlier stated it was Keller’s boyfriend who had died but Lewis cleared up the confusion in an email.

“The deceased in this case was NOT the woman’s boyfriend, as originally reported,” Lewis said.

The incident happened at 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

Krumlauf was arguing with the other man that began while they were driving separate vehicles, Lewis said.

The vehicles pulled into the parking lot of a Circle K at Hatcher Road and 11th Avenue.

A man got out of his car and left Keller inside to confront Krumlauf, who was armed with an air rifle.

Krumlauf swung at the man, police said.

The woman seeing what was happening jumped behind the wheel. She meant to hit the attacker but ended up plowing into both men, officers said.

“Keller was then seen reversing the car, exiting and punching Krumlauf while he was on the ground,” Lewis said.

Phoenix police arrived soon after.

Police were trying to learn what led up to the confrontation.
