Larry David, the person, and Larry David, the television character from HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm," are both known for being difficult. And David didn't fail to deliver his classic curmudgeon shtick on 60 Minutes. Rose was undeterred.

When the comedian tried to dodge questions with humor or just plain grumpiness, the correspondent says he "kept at it" in pursuit of a clearer understanding of what makes Larry David tick.

"I'm not just interested in teeing up some [bit]," Rose told 60 Minutes Overtime's Ann Silvio. "That doesn't interest me. Not with Larry, not with anybody. That's not what I do. I want to challenge people to find out who they are."

"I like him enough -- and I know he respects me enough -- to challenge him," Rose said, referring to David.

The comedian did appear to squirm at moments, calling his interviewer "sadistic" at one point. When asked about the kinetic on-camera exchanges, Rose told Silvio on 60 Minutes' web show that the interviews were "fun" for both men.

"People like to be challenged," Rose said. "Most people that I know who are any good at life like to be challenged."
