Sinead O'Connor posts seeming suicide note on Facebook

Irish singer-songwriter Sinead O'Connor posted what appeared to be a suicide note to her verified Facebook page on Sunday, writing that she had "taken an overdose."

"The last two nights finished me off. I have taken an overdose," she wrote. "There is no other way to get respect. I am not at home, I'm at a hotel, somewhere in ireland, under another name."

Irish media are reporting O'Connor is now safe and receiving medical treatment.

O'Connor, 48, is known for her 1990 hit "Nothing Compares 2 U." Several years ago she spoke openly to Oprah about her battle with depression.

In her Facebook post on Sunday, O'Connor references a hysterectomy she had in August. She wrote she had her ovaries and womb removed.

"I'm scum and deserve to be abandoned... just when I've had my womb and ovaries chopped out and my child is frighteningly sick," she wrote.

She continued by saying she had been crying for weeks.

"I'm invisible. I don't matter a shred to anyone. No one has come near me," she wrote. "I've died a million times already with the pain of it."

She ended her post by writing, "My children don't care if I live r (sic) die anyway. Neither do their dads. Everyone is better off. Never ever do this to a woman again. Let this be your lesson..."

The singer also mentions her marriage to ex-husband Barry Herridge, which ended after just 16 days in 2011.
