Carjacked vehicle hits crowd, killing 3 kids

PHILADELPHIA - Two men forced a woman into the backseat of her SUV at gunpoint and drove it into a group of people selling fruit on a Philadelphia street corner Friday, killing three children, all siblings, police said.

The woman was carjacked in the Tioga section of north Philadelphia, Homicide Capt. James Clark said.

"Something obviously went horribly wrong at this intersection," he said. "The vehicle went out of control, striking these five individuals."

Police say the victims were 7- and 10-year-old brothers and their 15-year-old sister. Their mother is in critical condition.

Clark says the children and adults were selling the fruit to raise money for their church.

The two men fled the scene and are being sought. Officials said a $40,000 reward was being offered, $20,000 for each victim of what were classified as homicides.

Police sought footage from surveillance cameras in the area to gather evidence and asked anyone with information in the case to come forward.
