Patient to be tested for Ebola in Texas

DALLAS - A patient has been admitted into an isolation unit at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas to be tested for Ebola, officials said Monday.

The unidentified patient was admitted based on symptoms and recent travel history, according to a statement released by Texas Health Resources. It is unclear what the specific symptoms were or what the patient's travel history was.

The virus has killed more than 3,000 people across West Africa and infected a handful of Americans who have traveled to that region.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention expects test results to be available on Tuesday.

Last month, a man was admitted to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York after traveling to West Africa and showing symptoms of the virus. Tests turned out to be negative, however.

No confirmed cases have been reported in the United States, according to the CDC.
