Peaceful transition

Donald Trump is going to keep America “in suspense” about whether he’ll accept the outcome of the Nov. 8 presidential election. At the final debate in Las Vegas, Trump was asked point-blank whether he would accept the result of the vote, but he wouldn’t commit, pushing instead his claims of a “rigged” election.

Minority report

Donald Trump expressed doubts on the debate stage last night that Russia was behind recent hacks of Democratic groups, putting him at odds not just with Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, but with the entire U.S. intelligence community.

Fact-check

From culpability for violence at political rallies, to claims about how their respective policies would affect the national debt, both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump made some remarks in the final presidential debate that fell short of the truth test. We look at some of their boldest claims, and the facts behind them.

Instant reaction

Immediately after the debate, the CBS News Battleground Tracker interviewed likely voters in battleground states to get their reaction. We found out who was most likely to have even tuned in, and how voters in those battlegrounds feel about candidates accepting the results of the election.

Picking the winner

Will Rahn argues Donald Trump lost the final debate -- and possibly the election -- by refusing to say he’ll honor the election results. Rahn calls Trump’s previous dithering “cute,” but says “it’s something else to insinuate you’ll object to a peaceful transfer of power because you got your feelings hurt.”

Steamrolling ISIS?

An Iraqi army officer brags to CBS News that his forces will be in Mosul within a matter of hours, and even Iraq’s leader says the offensive is going “more quickly than we thought.” But we’re on the front line with Kurdish forces battling for the outlying villages, and it’s clear there’s still a lot of fighting to do.

IRS scam

College students and their parents are falling victim to a phone scam where thieves impersonate IRS officials. In just three years, taxpayers have lost more than $49 million to IRS impersonation scams. A victim of the latest hoax tells us how the callers had her “wrapped around” their fingers.

Gender pay gap

To skeptics who question whether the wage gap between men and women is real, economists have an answer: no doubt about it. The latest research shows where in the workforce the biggest disparities are found, and we look at what might be behind the persistent gender difference in pay.

Tiger Woods

The American golf great has a timeline for his return to the game, and he’s sat down for a rare interview with Charlie Rose as the charitable group he started with his father, the Tiger Woods Foundation, turns 20. Woods opens up about his struggle to come back after a series of injuries, and controversies.
