How to survive being hit by lightning -- twice

They say lightning never strikes twice in the same place, but that doesn't mean it can't strike a person twice. No one knows that better than Beth Peterson, who has somehow managed to survive two separate lightning strikes
Author's book tells how she survived being hit by lightning - twice! 01:40

Lightning never strikes twice? Beth Peterson knows better.

Not only was she hit twice, but the second strike came one year to the day after the first - and only three miles away, reports KGAN, the CBS affiliate in Cedar Rapids.

Now Peterson has written a book, "Life After Lightning," which chronicles the highs and lows of her recovery. She lost toes, had to relearn how to walk and read and write, and still feels electricity surging through her body, but says every day is now a blessing.

"I'm breathing, I'm here. I'm present, I'm accounted for," Peterson said. Watch more of her story in the video above.
