Arrest after couple shot dead in bed near sleeping infant
KENNER, La. -- Police arrested a man on two counts of first-degree murder after a couple was found dead in their suburban New Orleans home last month, reports CBS affiliate WWL.
Shaun Barnett 28, was arrested for the double murder of 31-year-old Raynell Kimbrough and Dawn Scott, 28, according to the station. The couple was found shot to death inside their home on April 4.
Three children were reportedly home at the time of the shooting, including an infant in the bed with them. The children were all unharmed.
Barnett is believed to have been the person driving a gold or champagne-colored vehicle seen leaving the area following the murder, police said in a statement.
Barnett was in jail on unrelated charges at the time of his arrest in the couple's deaths, reports WWL. He had originally been arrested for parole violations, according to officials.
Police got a warrant for the murders on Friday after evidence linked Barnett to the crime, according to the station.
Barnett will be booked on murder charges, as well as possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies, according to Kenner police.
