2nd arrest in fatal NYC bus shooting of 14-year-old girl

NEW YORK- Police have made a second arrest in the May, 2013 bus shooting that left a 14-year-old girl dead in Queens, reports CBS New York.

Shamel Capers, 16, was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder, criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment in the fatal shooting of D'Aja Robinson on May 18 last year, according to the station.

Kevin McClinton, 21, is another suspect who was taken into custody last year and is awaiting trial.

Robinson was riding a bus in the New York City borough of Queens when authorities say a gunman shot at least nine rounds from the street, hitting her. The bullet hit the teen in the temple and she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police believe the shooting was gang-related, but Robinson was not targeted or connected to the gang in any way.

Then-police Commissioner Ray Kelly said it appears the girl was an innocent victim of gunfire.
