Panther kitten rescued after mother killed by motorist
NAPLES -- Florida Wildlife officials caught a 4-month old female panther kitten, they said, was likely orphaned when its mother was hit and killed by a vehicle.
In a news release issued Tuesday, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) said the kitten was rescued earlier in November.
When wildlife officers responded to the crash scene, they didn't see any kittens. But an employee at the nearby Collier-Seminole State Park photographed a female panther with three kittens in early October.
According to the agency, a construction worker photographed an emaciated kitten about a mile from the crash site. Wildlife officials set up traps in the area, CBS Miami reports.
On Nov. 2nd, the kitten was captured in the nearby woods.
The kitten was taken to a rehabilitation facility at Naples Zoo.
Another kitten was found dead.
