Parts of Oklahoma shaken by earthquake
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Parts of north central Oklahoma have been shaken by an earthquake.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 3.5 temblor was recorded at 2:07 p.m. Sunday in Garfield County about 13 miles west of Perry. It was recorded at a depth of less than two miles.
Earlier Sunday, a 2.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded about eight miles north of Guthrie in Logan County. It was recorded about 9 a.m. at a depth of about three miles.
Authorities say no injuries or damage was reported. Geologists say damage is not likely from quakes of below magnitude 4.0.
The Oklahoma Geological Survey said earlier this week it is "very likely" that most of the state's recent earthquakes were triggered by the subsurface injection of wastewater from oil and natural gas drilling operations.
