It quickly grew to 60 acres.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Bachman says some homes on Riverside Drive have been ordered evacuated.

The fire began in the area of Mojave Narrows Regional Park but moderate winds are pushing the flames toward some ranches and large homes.

Some horses and other animals have been evacuated.

The Daily Press of Victorville says the fire is 40 percent contained. Crews are fighting the blaze by ground and air.
