Arrest made in death of homeless boy, 12, found in Ky. park

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - An arrest has been made in the death of a 12-year-old homeless boy who was found dead in a Kentucky park, reports CBS affiliate WLKY.

Joseph Cambron, 21, who is also homeless, was arrested Thursday on charges of murder and tampering with physical evidence in the death of Ray Allen Etheridge.

Etheridge was found by a passer-by in Cherokee Park in Louisville late Tuesday afternoon, hours after he had been picked up early from his Indiana school by his mother.

Louisville Police Lt. Todd Kessinger said the boy's parents reported him missing about five hours after his body was found.

Police say Cambron and Etheridge had been acquaintances for a few weeks after meeting in the Cherokee Park area. According to an arrest report obtained by the station, the two got into a fight at the park on the day of Etheridge's death and police say Cambron stabbed the 12-year-old with a knife.

Kessinger said video evidence pointed authorities in the direction of Cambron and that Cambron called police Wednesday night and said he wanted to talk. After police picked him up, the 21-year-old admitted to his involvement in Etheridge's death, the report says.

WLKY reports police say Cambron has a sexual abuse criminal history, but there is nothing to indicate Etheridge was sexually abused.
