"Fab Five" quintuplets go home after 4 months

DALLAS - A set of Texas quintuplets dubbed the "Fab Five" are home after being released from a Dallas hospital to their family to begin their new lives.

The Seals babies, born March 18 at Baylor Medical Center, were given clearance to leave the neonatal care unit and taken home with their parents, Steven and Michelle Seals, who live in Maud, Texas.

"It's just been great getting to know these sweet babies," Baylor nurse, Lindsey Etchison told CBS Dallas-Fort Worth.

Mia, Tessa, Gracie, Rayleigh and Brant were each born weighing between 2 pounds, 7 ounces and 3 pounds 6 ounces, according to a hospital statement. That means 50 diapers and 10 cans of formula each day.

Bringing this team of newborns into the world called for a specialized team of medical professionals. The delivery required two obstetricians, four labor and delivery nurses, an anesthesiologist, two certified registered nurse anesthetists, six neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) nurses, seven neonatologists and five respiratory therapists. Four of the five babies are still using a feeding tube.

To get their new brood home, the Seals borrowed a church van to transport their family, which has expanded to eight, including a two-year-old older brother, Brady.

For now, the family will stay with a friend Paula Foster, in Carrolton, Tex.

"I want to keep one of them but she says I can't. I'm sure there will be some tears shed tomorrow," Foster said.
