Former President George H.W. Bush tweeted a photo to show he is recovering from a recent fall that left him with a broken vertebrae in his neck - and shed some light on how exactly he ended up on the floor in the first place.

The 41st president was hospitalized for four days after the fall before returning home. Despite the broken bone, he didn't suffer any nerve damage and doctors anticipate he will recover fully in three or four months.

Bush has had had other medical scares in recent years, and was hospitalized for several days last December after experiencing shortness of breath. But he also can be a daredevil, despite his old age: He has gone skydiving on at least three different birthdays since leaving the White House. He made a tandem jump to celebrate his 90th birthday last June.
