Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain, R-Arizona, scolded the anti-war activist group Code Pink on Thursday after members of the group interrupted a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing.

The activists were there to protest the presence of former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and called for his arrest. The senator asked the Capitol Police to restore order, declaring, "I have never seen anything as disgraceful and outrageous and despicable as the last demonstration."

The protesters kept chanting.

"You know, you're going to have to shut up, or I'm going to have you arrested," McCain grumbled. "Get out of here, you low-life scum."

The senator told Kissinger, "From all of my colleagues, I'd like to apologize for allowing such disgraceful behavior towards a man who served his country with the greatest distinction.

After the protesters were removed, the committee heard from Kissinger and two other former secretaries of state, George Shultz and Madeleine Albright, about global challenges and U.S. national security strategy.
