Astronaut's awesome Vine shows storms from space

While flying more than 200 miles above Earth Sunday, NASA astronaut Terry Virts tweeted this striking video of thunderstorms across central Africa. From his view aboard the International Space Station, the storms look like the flashes of fireworks.

But they hold an "amazing amount of power," he pointed out in his tweet.

It's been a big week at the ISS. NASA astronaut Scott Kelly and two Russian cosmonauts, Mikhail Kornienko and Gennady Padalka, launched from from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan Friday and docked later that night with the space station. Virts captured this fantastic photo of the Soyuz spacecraft as it approached Friday:

Virts has been documenting breathtaking views and important moments since he went into orbit in November, including an out-of-this-world selfie by Barry "Butch" Wilmore just weeks before he completed his ISS mission.
